Our History
Maryland Gospel Assembly
In 1990 the Lord gave Elder Newton M. Pelt, Jr., our spiritual father an heart to start a spiritual work in Brandywine MD. Upon doing so he was led to a building that was originally used as another form of religious practice. After purchasing the 11 acres of land he and those the Lord used at that time began to build what we call our home assembly today…Maryland Gospel Assembly.
God used him to build individuals into Jesus Christ and not into himself. As he began his ministry he traveled to and from various locations to grow in his knowledge and understanding of the word of God to be able feed those who God sent his way. He desired truth as he kept in his heart “John 8:32…”And you shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free.”
Over time the building has transformed into what we have today. After his passing in 2012, his son, Pastor Newton M. Pelt, III became the pastor and has continued the work of leading the Lords children to a better way in Christ. Under his leadership, as he’s led of the Lord, the assembly continues to grow and press towards the mark of the prize of the high calling of God through Christ Jesus.
Proverbs 22:6
Train up a child in the way he should: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.
Maryland Gospel Assembly School
In 1992 the Lord gave Elder Newton M. Pelt, Jr., our spiritual father and the one who God used to start Maryland Gospel Assembly, a vision regarding the educating of our children and the need for a school.
Being an obedient servant and trusting in the Lord the school began on 2 September 1992 and enrolled its first student on 3 September 1992 to the children of the assembly. Working with Elder Pelt to build a foundation for the school were numerous volunteer staff and teachers which included a body of nineteen students and a group of supportive parents.
Over the years the Lord has blessed and sustained via the support of many saints in the church and has blessed us to grow and open up to those outside of the assembly that once they felt the love of God they themselves began to come in.
In 1997, the school graduated its first student and over time there have been many more to do so with going on to bigger and better things in society to not only benefit themselves, but the church as well.
Maryland Gospel Assembly School was established stressing the importance of the teachings of Jesus Christ and providing and an atmosphere conducive for learning. Each day begins and ends with prayer and devotion, which keeps us mindful of who makes all things possible. Maryland Gospel Assembly School provides teaching for grades K-12. Over the years the staff and student body has changed in number many times, but the God continues to provide.
We thank and praise the Lord for all things. We know that when the Lord gives a vision He also makes provision.
Proverbs 4:13
Take fast hold of instruction; let her not go; keep her; for she is thy life.
